Beverley P. (Parkin) Lake, 87, of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday May 22, 2018.
Born in Acushnet, Beverley was the daughter of the late Robert Parkin and Emma Sergeant Parkin Jackson.
She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Wesley E. Lake, Jr.; her son Alan W. Lake and his wife Elaine of Buzzards Bay; and her grandson, Michael Wesley Lake of Danbury, CT.
Beverley was a graduate of New Bedford High School and she belonged to the Rainbow Girls.
She was a member of the Pilgrim United Church of Christ (formerly the United Congregational Church) where she taught Sunday School in her early years. She was a founding member of the H.A. Kempton School P.T.A. She had also been a docent for the New Bedford Glass Museum.
Beverley was a talented seamstress and excelled at knitting, embroidery, and crocheting. She loved gardening and reading biographies. She and her husband enjoyed sitting on the banks of the Cape Cod Canal with friends at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Buzzards Bay and going out to eat together.
A Memorial Service will be held for family and friends at the Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 635 Purchase St., New Bedford on Friday October 5, 2018 at 11 AM. She was cremated and her ashes will remain with her family. In lieu of flowers,please consider a donation to Shriners Hospitals for Children - Boston, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.
