Janice (Dalton) Young, 74, of Chester, NH and Naples, FL passed away December 6, 2005 at Kindred Hospital in Tampa, FL after a short illness. Her husband, sister and three of her children were at her side. She was born in Lynn, MA, a daughter of the late Arthur and Imogene (Huggins) Dalton. She graduated from Lynn English High School in 1949 and Nashua Memorial Hospital Training School for Nurses in 1952. Janice obtained her Bachelors Degree from New England College in Henniker, NH in 1984. She was a nurse for 36 years, working at both the Alexander Eastman Hospital and Parkland Medical Center, where she was the Director of Education at the time of her retirement.
IN HER LIFE: She moved to New Hampshire after marrying her husband, Bill and lived in Derry for a brief time before moving to Chester in 1960. Over the years their Sandown Road home was the gathering place for their friends, their children’s friends, for large parties and for small gatherings. Janice was always a gracious host and welcomed everyone to her home. She was a wonderful cook and a loving mother. She raised four children, all of whom are successful in their chosen fields. Janice and Bill celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 20th. An avid gardener and reader, Janice loved to travel across the United States with her husband in their retirements. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Young of Chester, NH and Naples, FL, daughter Elaine Towle and her husband Terry of Chester, son Tom Young of Hudson, FL, daughter Jane Grimm and her husband Bob of Chester and son, Andy Young, USAF of Texas and currently deployed in Iraq, eight grandchildren, Kelsey and James Towle, Amelia and Tristin Young, Jackson, Elizabeth and Travis Grimm and Chris Young, her siblings, Arthur Dalton of Sanford, ME, Freeman Dalton of West Paris, ME and Imogene George of East Waterboro, ME, and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were on Sunday, December 11th from 3 to 6 PM in the Peabody Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH. A memorial service was held Monday, December 12th at 11 AM in the Fellowship Bible Church, Rod & Gun Club Rd., Chester. Spring burial was in the Great Hill Cemetery, Chester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Chester Public Library, 3 Chester St., Chester, NH 03036.
