FALL RIVER – Irene S. (Medeiros) Oliveira, age 86 of Fall River, passed away on Tuesday, Sep. 25, 2018 with her loving family by her side. Born in Santo António alem Capelas, São Miguel, Açores, Irene was the daughter of the late João F. & Maria doCarmo (Mello) Medeiros and the beloved wife of the late Antonio Augusto Oliveira. Prior to retiring, Irene worked in the Textile Mfg. Industry for Whaling Mfg. as a Master Seamstress. She was a parishioner of Espirito Santo Church and loved to spend quality time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her children: Mary Lou Furtado (husband Tony) of Fall River, Joe Oliveira (wife Stacy) of N. Dartmouth, Steven Oliveira (wife Marsha) of Waterville, ME, Paul Oliveira of Assonet, & Edward Oliveira (wife Natalie) of Dartmouth; 1 brother: Artur Medeiros of Fall River; 8 grandchildren: Derek, Garrick, Kyle, Alexa Rae, Jarred, Michael, Abigail, & Maya; many nieces & nephews. She was the mother of the late Antonio Augusto Oliveira Jr., and the sister of the late Maria doCarmo Bettencourt, Jose, João, & Jaime S. Medeiros.
Irene’s family would like to extend a warm, heartfelt thank you to three special people who lovingly cared for their Mother: Alda Pavao, Goreti Pavao, & Bob Rachael.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Monday, Oct 1 at 7:45 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Espirito Santo Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 4-7 P.M. www.rogersfuneral.com.
