Antone "Tony" Ramos, 89, of New Bedford, passed away on September 25, 2018 at Hathaway Manor after a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Theresa A. (Silva) Ramos. They were happily married for 60 years.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Mary (Gomes) Ramos and Joaquim Ramos, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Ramos was employed for many years at Bush Cleaners.
He was a proud veteran and a member of the U.S. Army who served in the Korean War.
Mr. Ramos was a star athlete who was inducted into the Voc-Tech Hall of Fame for three sports: baseball, basketball and football.
Survivors include his daughter, Susan Ramos of Detroit, MI; a son, Steve Ramos and his wife Linda of New Bedford; 2 granddaughters, Cori Ramos of Baltimore, MD and Lynsey Ramos of New Bedford; a sister, Marcelina Lopes of New Bedford. He was the brother of the late Manuel "Rusty" Ramos and Rose Ramos.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 28th at 11:30 AM in Saunders-Dwyer Funeral Home, 495 Park St., New Bedford. His family will receive guests on Friday from 10 - 11:30 AM prior to his service. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
