Ralph A. Luongo, age 86, of Stoneham, formerly a lifetime resident of NY, passed away on September 23, 2018. He was the beloved husband for 65 years of Rosemarie (Giglio) Luongo.
Mr. Luongo was born in Brooklyn, NY, and was raised and educated in New York. He was a resident of Brooklyn and Queens in his early years and then lived on Long Island for over 60 years. A natural athlete, he could be found playing baseball in his younger days and was scouted by the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was a great fan of the Dodgers, and then a Mets fan.
In his spare time, he played baseball in a men’s league, loved bowling and hockey, especially the NY Islanders.
In his younger years he served in the Signal Corps of the Air National Guard, stringing telephone lines in Charlestown. He retired after many years as a flooring contractor.
In addition to his wife Rosemarie, he is survived by his son, Ralph Luongo and his wife Susan Kincaid of Winchester; a grandson, Dylan Luongo of Winchester, and he is further survived by his brother Pasquale Luongo, of Farmingdale, NY, a sister Yolanda Luongo of West Islip, NY, and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a Visitation at Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Thursday, September 27 from 10AM-12 Noon. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 28th at 11AM at the Parish of the Epiphany, 70 Church St., Winchester. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
