Louvianna C. (Blais) Jalbert, 94, of Peabody, passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the NSMC / Salem Hospital following a long illness. She was the devoted wife of the late George H. Jalbert with whom she had shared 68 years of marriage.
Born in Springfield, Vermont and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Vital and Marie (Tremblay) Blais. She was a graduate of Salem High Class of ’42. Following their marriage, “Louvie” devoted all of her time to the raising of her family. When the children were well into their school years, she began working for the former Almy’s Warehouse as a cashier and later on transferred into the bookkeeping department. She later worked as an administrative assistant for the Salem Council on Aging until her retirement in 1993.
The center of Louvie’s life was her family, her cat, and enjoying the simple pleasures in life. She loved sitting outdoors in the sun, doing her word search puzzles, and socializing with her fellow residents. A resident of Salem for most of her life, she and her late husband moved to Brooksby Village in 2005.
She is survived by her son, Paul L. Jalbert and his wife Donna of Rowley, three daughters, Diane M. Dubiel of Salem,Ellen C. Simard and her husband Raymond, of Salem, Jeanine A. Rybicki and her husband David Rybicki, Sr. of Lynn, thirteen grandchildren, Christopher & Joseph Jalbert, Jessica Connolly, John & Eric Walker, Thomas Dubiel, Jeffrey & Jeremy Simard, Jennifer Dubiel-Roussin, Kristen, Andrew, and Michael Dubiel, and David Rybicki, Jr. She also leaves 16 great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was the last survivor of 12 siblings.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 11:00 AM to be followed by her Mass of Christian Burial in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 12:00 noon. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem will follow. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be on Thursday, the 27th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
