Barbara (Wheeler) Low, 89, of Derry, NH died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 24, 2018 at Aurora Senior Living in Derry. She was born on February 20, 1929, the daughter of the late Vernon and Alice (Swain) Wheeler and was a lifelong resident of Derry. Barbara attended Derry schools, graduating in the top of her class from Pinkerton Academy, Class of 1946.
During her lifetime she enjoyed square dancing, candlepin bowling, traveling, and crossword puzzles; but, most important to her was spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Samuel Low. She is also survived by her seven children, James and his wife Marion of Deerfield, Robert of Manchester, Patricia Cutler and her husband Paul of Londonderry, Richard and his wife Lupe of Danville, Kathryn of Derry, Thomas and his wife Candice of Derry, and Deborah Arsenault and her husband Tony of Manchester; 13 grandchildren, Matthew, Emily, Mark, Jared, Christine, David, Jeffrey, Christopher, Elizabeth, David, Kristen, Derek, Kevin; 19 great grandchildren and one nephew.
Following cremation, calling hours were held Friday, September 28, 2018 from 9am to 10am at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A service followed in the funeral home at 10:00am. Burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 166 S. River Rd. #210, Bedford, NH 03110 or to the charity of one’s choice.
