Loving “Mama” and “Grammy”
Passed away September 24, 2018. Betty was a Polish sausage and sauerkraut loving Swede who had a passion for life and all things it entailed. She loved all wildlife and nature but especially her birds, squirrels and flowers. Betty was a compassionate person who dedicated 30 years of her life working as a nurse’s aide at St. John’s Hospital; and on her off-time spent it cheering on the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. Preceded in death by the love of her life, husband Al; parents, John and Anna Nelson; brother, Clarence; many other loving in-laws and her “little Ernie”. Survived by daughter, Carol and Mark; precious granddaughters Lainey (Max) and Tawnie (Derek); special little buddy Cohen and his siblings Thea and Waylon; nieces, Barbara, Barb, Mary, Diane, Peggy, Mary Z., Rita, Clare, Michelle, Jeanette, Kathy, Paula; nephews, Frank, Dennis, John, Tom, Jim. A special Thank You to Betty’s dear nieces Kathy and Paula for their love and care and a very special Thank You to her caregivers Shawn and Sherry, as well as her wonderful roommate Dorothy. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 AM Friday (9/28) SANDBERG FUNERAL HOME, 2593 7th Ave E., North St. Paul, with gathering time one hour prior; interment with her beloved Al at Union Cemetery in Maplewood to immediately follow.
