Obituary

CHICOPEE ~ Claire Y. (Dupont) Descoteaux, 95, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, September 25, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Chicopee on December 16, 1922, a beloved daughter of the late Leonore and Aurore (Jodoin) Dupont. She was raised and educated in Chicopee and had lived in South Hadley before returning to the Aldenville section of Chicopee where she lived for the past 65 years. She had worked at the Holyoke Wire and Cable Company for many years. Active in her Catholic faith, she was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. She was a member of the Aldenville Senior Center in Chicopee where she enjoyed spending time with her friends and playing cards. She was known by many as a wonderful cook. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Hervey L. Descoteaux who was Called Home on September 2, 1992. She leaves her three loving children, Richard H. Descoteaux, Jean C. Micheli and her husband, Dennis, and Nancy L. Beaulieu and her husband, Dennis, all of Chicopee; her four cherished grandchildren, Michael Micheli and his wife, Julie, Tarah Gilpatrick and her husband, Adam, Eric Beaulieu and his wife, Rachel, and Sara Batchelor and her husband, Jeff; her eight cherished great-grandchildren, Austin and Lily Micheli, Tyler, Kyle and Selena Gilpatrick, Wylan Beaulieu and Peyton and Cameron Batchelor; her dear sister-in-law, Goria Dupont of South Hadley; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Descoteaux and Dupont families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her dear brother, Leo Dupont; and her dear sister, Cecile Rivest. Her funeral will be held on Saturday morning, September 29, 2018 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday morning, September 29, 2018 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. prior to the Mass. The funeral home parking lot and main entrance are located at the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
