Obituary

George Riendeau, 71, of Groveton, passed away at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine on September 22, 2018. He was born on June 23, 1947, the son of the late Sylvenie and Antoinette (Duchesnaye) Riendeau, and was a lifelong resident of the North Country.

George was a hard worker and a dedicated family man. One of his earliest jobs was a taxi cab driver where he gave his future wife and friends a ride. Most of his life he held various positions, including lab technician, at the Wausau Mill in Groveton until it closed. He also served in the National Guard for over twenty years before retiring. George loved classic cars and going on motorcycle rides. He was known for walking his dog around town. George was an avid reader and a huge fan of the Patriots. He enjoyed listening to music of all kinds, especially French Canadian and Irish music. He especially loved gathering with the Riendeaus and raising the roof playing music; he played the spoons. George loved spending time and traveling with his family.

Members of the family include his wife of 49 years Kathryn Riendeau of Groveton; his children and their spouses: Cynthia Rainville and Frederick J. of Groveton, Jeffrey Riendeau and Kristi of Litchfield, and Dennis Riendeau of Hudson; grandchildren Kyle, Sean, Sara, and Katie; sister Jeanne Daigle and her husband Roland of Berlin, and twin sister Georgette Parker and her husband Marvin of Clyde, TX; brother-in-law Thomas Cloutier, and sisters-in-law Theresa Riendeau, Yvette Berthiaume and Cheri Reilley and her husband Richard. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. George was predeceased by his siblings Arthur Riendeau, Rene Riendeau, and Juliette Connolly Morlock.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday September 28, 2018 at 1pm at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. There will be no calling hours, friends and relatives are invited to meet directly at the church. Interment with Military Honors will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 1pm at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH. Arrangements are entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Homes, Berlin & Gorham, NH. Those who wish may make a donation in George's memory to the American Lung Association of the Northeast, 45 Ash Street, East Hartford, CT 06108.
