Obituary

Jeannette M. (Louf) Dionne, 92, of Salem, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 21, 2018, in her home with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Roger L.P. Dionne.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Omer and Merilda (Leclerc) Louf. As a young woman she worked at the former Pequot Mills and later for the former CBS Hytron both of Salem. Jeannette and Roger married in 1948 and in 1950 they opened Dionne’s Market on Loring Avenue in Salem which they operated until 1965 when the store was sold. Jeannette’s life was centered around, their family, her home and their store. She was also very devoted to her large extended family.
She is survived by three daughters, Carol A. Smith and her husband Richard of Danvers, Yvonne M. Butterfield of Salem, Janet M. Ackerman and her husband Arthur of Walterboro, SC, her son John R. Dionne and his wife Renee, of Salem, two grandchildren, Kimberly Butterfield of Salem and Katelyn Hanley and her husband DJ of Cottageville, SC, two great grandchildren, Jannelle Dumas of Salem and Sawyer Hanley of South Carolina as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Armand, Roger & Fernand Louf , her sister Doris Dube and son-in-law William Butterfield.
Relatives and friends are invited to her calling hours on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM in the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem to be followed by her funeral service in the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
