David H. “Bo” Grantham, 89, of Wray, Georgia, died Saturday, September 22, 2018, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Monday, September 24, 2018, at the Fitzgerald Church of God, with the Rev. Dewain Joiner officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Sunday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Grantham was born October 28, 1928, in Telfair County, Georgia, to the late David Grantham & Ola Mae Brown Grantham Waters. He was a 1948 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. Mr. Grantham worked for Smith Sawmill and was a sales clerk for Standard Supply for 40 years. He was a master woodworker having made many dog houses and bird houses. He built toy boxes for children and grandchildren. Mr. Grantham enjoyed carving with his scroll saw and shared many of his projects with friends and neighbors. He was a member of the Fitzgerald Church of God.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ruthie Murphy Grantham of Wray; daughter, Marcie & Kevin Merritt of Wray; step-sons: Tony Smith of Fitzgerald and Sam & Rachel Cross of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Eian Merritt, Joshua & Mandi Smith, Dallas & John Conant, and Erica Cross; two great-grandchildren: Flint Smith and Turner Smith; and a niece, Sylvia Tanner of Tucker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, and a nephew, John Calvin “Buddy” Tanner, Jr.
