Ilene M. (Terrio) Hanlon-Guiney, a 14 year resident of Norwell and former longtime resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Royal Norwell Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Norwell following a month long battle with cancer. She was 73 years of age.
Ilene was born in Boston on November 15, 1944, a daughter of the late John J. Terrio and Beatrice A. (Coyle) Terrio. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated at St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from Julie Billiart High School in the North End of Boston in 1963. Ilene worked as a Secretary for the Massachusetts Chapter of AFL-CIO for almost 20 years where she was very active in their scholarship drives and retired as a Secretary for the Teamsters Union Local # 25 in 2007. She loved the beach and sitting in the sun and also enjoyed vacationing on Cape Cod and traveling. Ilene treasured her most special moments in her life with her husband and 4 daughters and was very proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments.
Ilene is the beloved wife of 14 years to Richard J. Guiney. She is the devoted mother of Lisa Sullivan and her husband Michael, Ilene Gautreau and her husband Michael, Bridget Garland and her husband Garry and Colleen Hanlon. She is the loving Nana to 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of Beatrice Knight, John Terrio, Anna Theresa Leonard and the late Betty Ann Quigley. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ilene's Funeral Mass on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 11 A.M. in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Her burial will be at Braintree Cemetery, Plain St. in Braintree.THERE ARE NO FUNERAL HOME VISITING HOURS.
