Obituary


James R. Gibson passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones on September 20, 2018 at the age of 83 years. He was the husband of the late Jean (Megna) Gibson, who died in 2005.

He was the son of the late Frank W. Gibson and the late Delia (Clancy) Gibson and the youngest of thirteen children. James was preceded in death by twelve siblings: Anne Rust (1921-2007), William Gibson (1924-1988), Miss Frances Gibson (1925-1925), Elizabeth “Bubbles” Gibson (1927-1941), Ruth Maddox (1929-2016), Walter Gibson (1930-2015), Joseph Gibson (1931-1995), Joan Scoldy (1932-2013), Kathleen Megna (1932-2012), Arthur Gibson (1934-1996), Clarence Gibson (Date of birth & death unknown), and Mr. Francis Gibson, born 1926, whom just recently passed away August 7, 2018, all of Boston, MA. He is survived by his daughter Donna Gibson of Franklin, daughter Janet Gibson of Franklin, Dawn House and her husband Scott House, of Bellingham, and his son James Gibson and his wife Patricia, of Hanford, CA. James is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.

James was a 1956 graduate of Lexington High School, after which he joined the Army (1956-1959). After receiving an honorable discharge, James began a life as a Printer-Lithographer. In the early 1980’s, James began a new career as member of the MA State Police where he served as an officer of The Campus Police Department at Medfield State Hospital for over twenty years. Always the consummate jokester, James enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends. He loved to make others laugh. James especially enjoyed singing in a band in his younger days, music always being a huge factor in his life.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, September 27 from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home(www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street, Medway on Thursday, September 27th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St Joseph’s Church, 151 Village Street in Medway at 10:00 a.m. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 26th between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, James’ family requests donations be made in his name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or St. Joseph’s Indian School Box 326 Chamberlain, SD 57326
