Antone Almeida, Jr., 92, of Westport and Zephyrhills, FL, died Friday, September 21, 2018 at home. He was husband of the late Edith E. (Roylance) Almeida.
Born in Little Compton, son of the late Antone Almeida, Sr. and the late Emily (Mello) Almeida, he had lived in Westport for most of his life. A veteran of WWII, he served his country in the United States Army. Prior to retirement in 1986, he was a postal carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was the former owner and operator of Blue Acres Campground, Westport. He served as Deputy Chief of the former Head of Westport Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Almeida was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Westport, the American Legion James Morris Post 145, Westport, and the VFW Ouellette Post 8502, Westport. He was an avid golfer.
Survivors include a son: Antone Almeida, III and his wife Barbara of Westport; 2 daughters: Sharon E. Almeida of Fall River and Dawn E. Clarkson and her husband Gordon of Westport; and 4 grandchildren.
He was father of the late Penny E. Peckham.
Funeral services to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, September 24, 2018 at the Potter Funeral Home at 7 P.M.
Visitation will be Monday from 6-7 P.M. prior to the service.
Interment will be private.
