Mrs. Dorothy Althea Evans, 85, of Derry, NH, died Saturday, December 3, 2005 in her home. Mrs. Evans was born on the Beckford farm in Chester, NH, September 1, 1920, a daughter of the late Guy D. and Violet (Beckford) Chadwick. Mrs. Evans was a lifelong resident of Derry and a graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Class of 1938. She was co-owner of the Derry Feed and Supply, Co. with her late husband, Arthur R. Evans, Sr. In addition to the business, her interests included arranging flowers, gardening, and reading. She was a 50-year member and past president of the Derry Garden Club, a 50-year member of the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution). Mrs. Evans was also a 44-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ransford-Adah Chapter #3, and the current treasurer of the Thaelian Club, both of Derry. Additionally, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Derry where she provided the floral arrangements for many years.
Mrs. Evans is survived by her two children: daughter, Ann M. Evans and son, Arthur R. Evans II, both of Derry, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased, in February 2004, by her husband, Arthur R. Evans, Sr., previously of Windham and Derry.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 8th at 1 PM at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. The burial followed in the Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry.
