Obituary

Domenic V. Melito passed away after a brief illness at the Kaplan Family Hospice House. He was 58. A Medford resident for much of his life, Domenic was a devoted son, father, uncle and friend. Raised on Fulton St. in North Medford, Domenic was an outstanding athlete, especially in Hockey. Signed at the age of 17 for the Washington Capitals organization, Domenic suffered injuries in a car accident which ended his career as it was about to take off. Throughout his life he worked in the lobster and seafood industry. He and his brother Michael operated Melito Brothers Seafood. They later developed and worked independently as lobster brokers. A talented negotiator and logistics manager, Domenic enjoyed great success in his business. He enjoyed music of all types and also enjoyed some travelling to visit friends and colleagues. Domenic and his siblings enjoyed one last trip together and visited Elvis’ home at Graceland.

The beloved son of the late Domenic and Virginia (Amara) Melito, he was a devoted father of David Neary. Domenic was a loving brother to Patricia McCabe of North Reading, Anna Holland of Revere, and Michael Melito and his wife Paula of Reading. He was a dear uncle of Karen McCabe, Tricia Constantine, Lisa Sullivan, Michael A. Melito, Samuel Melito, Matthew Holland, Michael Melito, Jr., Carlie Melito and Shawn and Mark Leavitt.

Relatives and friends may visit Sunday, September 23 from 4 - 8 PM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. Procession will gather at the funeral home on Monday at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian burial offered in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
