Greenstein, Joel Harvey of Waltham, MA and Highland Beach, FL died peacefully at Belmont Manor Nursing Home on September 20, 2018 in Belmont, MA at the age of 77.Joel is survived by three children: Karen Greenstein of Los Angeles, CA; Melissa Cronin (husband, John) of South Burlington, VT; Eric Greenstein (wife, Megan) of Duxbury, MA. He also leaves behind a brother, Robert Greenstein (wife, Faye) of Henderson, NV; and two grandchildren, Madeline and Bailey Greenstein of Duxbury, MA. Joel is preceded in death by his parents, Marcus and Irene Greenstein of Revere, MA. Joel was born on April 19, 1941 in Boston, MA. He graduated from The University of Rhode Island in 1963 with a degree in Business Administration. Upon graduation, he worked for his father, Marcus, at Marcus Lumber in Revere. Joel went on to become a Real Estate Developer, and opened J.G. Enterprises in 1971. A savvy businessman who was always in search of the next professional challenge, he also owned and ran four Steve’s Ice Cream stores. Joel enjoyed sharing stories, attending Temple at Brandeis University, and dancing to Neil Diamond songs. But his greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends. A long-time Boston Celtics fan, he rarely missed a game during the heyday of Larry Bird and Robert Parish. Joel was also an active member of the Lexington Rotary Club for many years. A funeral is scheduled for 10am on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Torf Funeral Chapel-151 Washington Avenue, Chelsea MA, followed by a graveside service in the Tifereth Israel Cemetery, Everett.
