Obituary

Claire M. Dupont, 87, of Woonsocket died Monday September 17, 2018 at Woonsocket Health and Rehab Center. She was the loving wife of the late Normand R. Dupont. They were married in 1954 and shared over 40 years together until his passing in 1994.
Born in Woonsocket she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Evelyn (Gosselin) Menard. She was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mrs. Dupont worked at the former Najarian’s Dept. store, Grant’s Dept. store and New England Telephone.
Claire was a longtime volunteer for Feed My Sheep at All Saints Parish. She also volunteered at Landmark Medical Center at the information desk and at the Woonsocket Senior Center and for Meals on Wheels. Claire was the vice president and chair of the activities committee at Waterview Apartments. Claire was a longtime communicant of St. Agatha and later All Saints Parish. She enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables. Clare was a dedicated bargains shopper - no deal was too big or too small, Claire found them all!
Claire will be remembered for her love for her family and her care and concern for anyone and everyone she met.
She is survived by three sons Paul Dupont and his wife Colleen of Pawtucket, Andre Dupont and his wife Lydia of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and John Dupont and his wife Christina of Manassas, Virginia. Two daughters Lilian Trevett and her husband William of Milford and Susan Croteau of Vermont. She was the sister of the late Robert A. Menard, Normand R. Menard and Lilian L. Menard. She is survived by her sisters-in- law Lucille Menard, Lorraine Dupont and Jacqueline Bussiere. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was the grandmother of the late Aaron Maxwell Dupont.
Her funeral will be Saturday at 9:00 am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Agatha Church, Joffre Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are Friday from 4-7 pm.
