Gael M. O’Donnell, 80

Dateline: North Attleboro, MA

Gael M. O’Donnell, age 80, of North Attleboro, formerly of Mansfield passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at the Attleboro Health Care in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of the late Nancy J. (Mathews) O’Donnell, who died on February 19, 2016.

Born in Watertown, MA on January 4, 1938, he was a loving son of the late John B. and Mary F. (Linen) O’Donnell.

Gael grew up and was educated in Watertown. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Korean War.

A resident of North Attleboro for the past sixteen years, he had previously made his home in Mansfield, and prior to retiring had worked at Comfort Air, Robinson Supply and Canterbury Woods.

Gael was a member and actively involved with the North Attleboro Knights of Columbus. He loved spending time with his adoring family, playing cards with friends and camping.

He is survived by his devoted daughters Kelliann Bachand and her husband Scott of North Attleboro and Stacy M. Kelley of North Attleboro. He was the cherished grandfather of Hannah, Mary, William and Noah. He was the dear brother of Francis O’Donnell of FL, Patricia Bray of MA, Dorothy Nelson of MA, and the late Joseph O’Donnell, John O’Donnell, Gerald O’Donnell, Thomas O’Donnell, Margaret Schwarz, Mary Stefaniak and Barbara Bray. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Ruth Mathews of Mansfield, as well as many nieces and nephews.

His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 25th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mark’s Church, 105 Stanley St., North Attleboro. Burial with military honors will follow at 12:30 P.M. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, September 24th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.

Due to the limitation of flowers allowed at the National Cemetery, donations in his memory may be made to the Capt. Kyle R. Van De Giesen Memorial Award Fund, P.O. Box 811, North Attleboro, MA 02761.
