Obituary


Brittany Avila of Yarmouth passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 17, 2018. She was 32.

Born May 14, 1986, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Susan Avila. Raised in the Provincetown/Truro area, she graduated from the Cosmetology Program at Cape Cod Technical High School in Harwich. She enjoyed practicing her craft on her many friends and family. She also liked helping her mother with holiday baking, spending time at New England Dragway with her father and sister, as well as being a loyal friend and a loving mother.

Brittany will be missed by her daughter Ryleigh Zarate of Dennis, sisters Christy Avila of Truro and Kali MacLauchlan of Wellfleet. She is also survived by nephew Anthony Thomas of Wellfleet, step-father Butch Lisenby of Truro, maternal grandparents Ralph and Margaret Amidon of Grafton, along with loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents Francis and Clarice Avila.

Brittany’s happiest moment was the day her pride and joy, Ryleigh, was born. Brittany spent the last ten years in the Dennis/Yarmouth area, where she raised Ryleigh with the support of Ryleigh’s’ father, Matthew Zarate, grandparents Joan Bassett, Tara Smith and Jim Zarate along with Aliyanna, Naveah, and Devin Perkins.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the Gately Funeral Home, 94 Harry Kemp Way, Provincetown on Tuesday, October 9th from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. A Memorial Tribute will follow at 6:30 at the Funeral Home.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to a college fund set up for her daughter Ryleigh Zarate, at the Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod, 1470 MA-39, Harwich, MA 02645, or any of their branch offices.
