Donald Lee McPherson, 82, of Tifton passed away Monday, September 17, 2018, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Dr. Wayne Roe officiating. Mr. McPherson will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 22, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. McPherson’s grandsons, Reed McPherson, Zach McPherson, as well as, Gavin Hamby, Tim McPherson, Ronald McPherson, Chandler Hamby, Michael Holloway and Shane McBrayer will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the I. D. Morgan Sunday School class at Tifton’s First Baptist Church.
Born October 14, 1935 in Dawson, Mr. McPherson was the son of the late Horace McPherson and Mary Chambless McPherson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jane Black McPherson, who passed away December 8, 2016; two brothers, Burton McPherson and Wesley McPherson; and one sister, Mary Ann Black. He received his BSAE degree from the University of Georgia and was the owner and operator of McPherson Systems. He was a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church and had lived in Tifton for the past 43 years. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Mr. McPherson is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Jane McPherson and Dan and Fran McPherson, all of Tifton; four grandchildren, Reed McPherson. Connor McPherson, Zach McPherson and Aubree McPherson; and one brother and sister-in-law, James and Barbara McPherson of Dawson.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to a favorite charity.
