Richard “Rich” Rollock died at Genesis Rehab Center in Laconia, New Hampshire on September 4, 2018. He was 77.
Rich was born in Quincy Massachusetts on October 6, 1940 to Philip and Caroline (Knowles) Rollock.
He grew up in New Hampshire, and joined the Air Force in 1962. He was stationed at Scotts Air Force Base in Illinois, where he was part of the Radar Squadron. After leaving the Air Force, he moved back to New Hampshire and settled in Nashua. He worked for Raytheon and then later was a manager for the Doctor Pet Center there. He really enjoyed working with small animals and later ran his own business buying and selling reptiles, chimps, birds and dogs. Rich rarely did any one thing too long. He was an “idea” man and always had some great idea that was going to be worth millions! During the CB craze of the late 70’s he founded CB Handles, a directory of people using CB’s. With all his business ideas he decided to finish college and in 1978 obtained a B.S. in business from Plymouth State University.
Although he changed jobs frequently the one constant in his life was his passion for music. He never met a stringed instrument that he couldn’t play. He was in a band while he was in the Air Force, ran a musical program for children in local libraries, and offered guitar lessons to members of his church.
While not particularly religious growing up, he turned to the church in the 90’s during a difficult time in his life. He became a devout member of several churches. He played guitar and sang at the Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Laconia, NH, but Center Harbor Christian Church in Center Harbor, NH was his primary church and remained his church home until it closed. After CHCF closed a group of congregants formed Turning Point Christian Fellowship in Moultonborough, NH.
Unfortunately his heath prevented him from attending as often as he would have like, he enjoyed getting the chance to play and sing for the congregation when he could get there.
Besides his musical talent Rich will be remembered for his odd sense of humor.
He is survived by his son Jonathan Rollock (Erica), his daughters, Lynn Vanderhoef (William) and Nicole Small, three grandchildren and his dear friend of 10 years, Carol Clough. Rich was predeceased by his mother Caroline Rollock, his father Philip Rollock, his sister Judith Belmore, his brother Peter Rollock, his nephew Ken Rollock, his niece Sarah Ewing and his brother Steven Rollock.
A graveside service will be held at Blair Cemetery in Campton, NH, September 23, 2018 at 2pm.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Camp Resilience or the charity of your choice.
