Obituary

Shrewsbury—Dee E. (Butka) Prifti, 82, died Wednesday, November 30, 2005, in the Shrewsbury Nursing Home. Her husband, Spiro V. Prifti, died in 2003. She was born in Marlboro, daughter of Christy and Evangella (Costa) Butka and was a graduate of Marlboro High School and Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing. She, along with her husband, owned and operated the former Liberty Lunch. Dee was a member of St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church and the Daughters of St. Mary’s. Dee spent her lifetime caring for her family and others. She is survived by a son, John Prifti, and his wife, Cindy, of Shrewsbury; a daughter, Paula Prifti, of Shrewsbury; and 3 grandchildren, Alexandra Holland, Evan Holland, and Nikolas Prifti, all of Shrewsbury. Two brothers, Cotsi and Theodore Butka, and a sister, Clementine Gould, predeceased her.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, Dec. 2, at St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 1, at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester. A Trisagion Service will be held at 6 p.m. during calling hours. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the church or the Arthritis Foundation, P.O. Box 7669, Atlanta, GA 30357-0669.
