WEBB , George B., 72, of Canton and formerly of Dover, MA, September 15, 2018, born September 30, 1945 in Hartsville, SC, Beloved husband of the late Stella A. Webb for 41 years, and partner of Rose Marie Salah of Dedham, MA. Loving father of George P. Webb and his wife Beth, Paul J. Webb and his wife Melissa all of Dover. Proud grandfather of Ashton, Garrett, Caroline, Jack and Aiden Webb. Son of the late Eugene and Gertrude (Johnson) Webb of South Carolina. Brother to Linda, Wesley, Charles, Eunice, James, Barbara, Ginny and Alice. Survived by many nieces and nephews who he loved greatly.
George joined the Marines at the age of 18 and served for six years, including an extended combat tour of duty in Vietnam. He obtained the rank of Sargent E6 and was honorably discharged in 1971. After serving his country, he joined his wife’s family construction business, The Sardella Construction Company in Walpole, MA and settled with his family in Dover, MA.
When George wasn’t working he would play guitar for his family and friends and wrote his own music. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping and enjoyed sharing these interests with his family and friends. After George retired, he settled in Canton, MA where he remained active in the Dover and Canton VFW Chapters and volunteered to help other disabled veterans. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt.16) Wellesley, Friday, September 21, at 8:45am followed by a funeral service in Most Precious Blood Church, Dover at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4-8pm in the funeral home. Interment in Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston.
