Obituary


MEREDITH-----Harold E. Mongovan, Jr., 97, of Meredith Bay Colony Club, died on Saturday, September 15, 2018, after a period of failing health.

Harold was born on June 5, 1921in Bangor, Maine the son of Dr. Harold E. Mongovan, Sr. DMD and Josephine (Mullen) Mongovan.

Harold graduated from Bangor High School, class of 1939, and the University of Maine, Orono in 1943. He was United States Navy pilot, and was carrier qualified.

After his discharge from the Navy in 1945, he worked in sales of dyes and pigments to plastic, paper, and textile industries for American Cyanamid Company until his retirement in 1983. He enjoyed fly-fishing, downhill skiing, hiking, and camping out west in the four-corners area, and continued these activities until he was 93.

Harold is survived by his second wife of twenty five years, Eleanor (DePine) Mongovan; three sons, Harold E. Mongovan, III and his wife, Merilee, of Phoenix, AZ, David Mongovan, of Mesa AZ and James Mongovan of Wolfeboro, NH; a daughter, Nancy (Mongovan) Kvidera, of Harvard, IL; son-in-law, Erv Kvidera, of Cary IL; two step-sons, Michael DePine of Pensacola, FL and Joseph DePine, of Scottsdale, AZ; a step-daughter, Brenda (DePine) Bell and her husband, Mark, of Portland, ME; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Harold is predeceased by his first wife, of forty three years, Jean (Fitzgerald) Mongovan, son, John Mongovan, stepson Glenn DePine, brother, William Mongovan, sister, Elizabeth (Mongovan) Rogan and brother-in-law, Charles Rogan.

There will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 10:00am at the St. Andre Bessette Parish-Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia NH.

Private Family Burial will be held in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 449 Ohio Street, Bangor, Maine.

For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial donations may be made to St. Andre Bessette Parish, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia NH 03246 or to the Central VNA & Hospice, 780 North Main Street, Laconia NH 03246.
