Meredith----Robert “Bob” Keith, 88, of Moultonborough passed away September 8, 2018 after an engaging life of service to his country, family and community.
Bob was born on January 25, 1930 in Scituate, Massachusettes, the son of William G. and Lillian (Hallstein) Keith.
After graduating high school, Bob proudly served in the Marines in the Korean War. In Korea he was engaged in the Chosin Reservoir Campaign where he earned the Bronze Star with Valor for rescuing fellow injured marines under heavy fire. Upon returning home he served as a corrections officer in Massachusetts. In his town of Middleboro, MA, Bob was an elected assessor for over a decade and served on the local conservation commission. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Frances (Greene) Keith to visit his fellow servicemen and national parks. Bob also carved bird decoys, hunted and hiked, in later years with the Over the Hill Hikers. He and Fran had a passion for bluegrass music, often traveling to festivals around the country. He was a member of the local Marine Corp League and also served to protect and restore the Loon population at his home on Wakondah Pond, as part of the Loon Preservation Committee.
Bob is survived by his daughter Robbin, and her husband Peter, Adams; grandson Benjamin Adams; sister Florence Staples and sister-in-law Barbara Keith. He is predeceased by his parents, his wife Frances, son Jonathan Keith, and brothers William and John Keith.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, November 3rd, 1 pm, at the Plymouth Congregational Church, 4 Post Office Sq., Plymouth, NH 03264.
A graveside service, with honors, will be held at a future date at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303.
