Dorothy Collazzi, 94, of Gales Ferry, passed away Thursday, September 13th at her home with her family.
Dorothy was born in Bronx, NY on May 2, 1924 to Hans and Emmy Gries. In 1998 she moved to Brookfield, CT until 3 years ago when she moved to Gales Ferry, CT with her daughter and son-in-law.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 70 years, Louis Collazzi as well as her son Louis.
She is survived by her loving children, Linda Servedio of Manorville, NY; John Collazzi of Bronx NY and Gina Servedio of
Gales Ferry, CT. Also survived and admired by 8 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.
Dorothy was an amazing mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to all of us. She was an inspiration and wonderful example for her entire family. From 1962 to 1967 she fostered 13 new born babies from the Catholic Foundling Home in NY. In 1967 she started work at Lehman College as a secretary in the President’s office and retired at age 68.
Dorothy was an avid reader, loved playing video games and keeping up with family and friends on facebook through the use of her IPad.
We were blessed to have Kindred Home Health Care be part of our mom’s care these last few years.
Dorothy’s family will greet relatives and friends at Our Lady of Lourdes, Catholic Church located at 1650 Route 12, Gales Ferry on Thursday, September 27th at 9:30 am. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 am. Following Mass internment will be conducted at St. Mary’s Cemetery in New London, CT
