Springfield – Florence Ann (Grise`) Burke, age 87, passed away on Sept. 13, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Dec. 11, 1930 in Springfield, a daughter of the late Joseph M. and Florence (Fontaine) Grise`. Florence was a communicant of Holy Cross Church and had sung in the Holy Cross Choir for many years and was a member of the Association of Holy Childhood. Florence attended Mount Saint Vincent College in NY and graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for both the Chicopee VNA and Mercy Hospital for 10 years and later went to work for McNally Brothers Oral Surgeons in West, where she worked for 25 years before she retired. Florence took great pride in her nursing profession and was the official nurse of Winding Lane as well as a den mother in the Boy Scouts. Florence is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Charles “Ken” Burke of Springfield; 5 sons, Charles and his wife Gwen of Springfield, Robert and his wife Donna of Old Lyme, CT, Michael and his wife Karla of Old Lyme, CT, James and his wife Teresa of Huntington and Joseph and his wife Gina of Feeding Hills; 2 brothers, William “Bill” Grise` and his wife Carol of East Springfield and John “Jack” Grise` and his wife Alda of FL; 8 beloved grandchildren, Nick Burke and his wife Julie, Kevin Burke and his wife Danielle, Michaelan Condon and her husband George, Kristen Burke, Christopher Burke, Shannon Burke, Celina Burke and Matt Burke. She also leaves her 5 great grandchildren, Lauren Burke, Nolan and Emily Burke and Erin and Daniel Condon. She is predeceased by her brother J. Myles Grise`. Calling hours will be held at the Grise` Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee on Wed., Sept. 19, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Holy Cross Church, 221 Plumtree Rd, Springfield on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018 at 10:00 AM followed by burial in St Michael’s Cemetery.
