SPRINGFIELD ~ Joseph H. Lacasse, 88, of the Mason Wright Apartments in Springfield was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Barre, Vermont on March 6, 1930, a beloved son of the late Aurel and Rosanna (Lariviere) Lacasse. He was raised in Saint Methode, Province of Quebec, Canada and came to Springfield in 1967 where he lived for the remainder of his life. He was employed for 18 years as a machine operator at the former Moore Drop Forge in Springfield. During his leisure time, he enjoyed playing poker at the former Kips Cafe in Springfield with his many friends. Most of all, he was a caring family man who loved his family and truly enjoyed their Sunday get-togethers. He was a communicant of the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Springfield. He leaves his beloved wife and soul mate, Henedine M. (Bolduc) Lacasse. They were married on September 21, 1957 at Eglise Saint Methode in P.Q., Canada and were blessed with nearly 61 years of happiness together. Besides his wife, he leaves his two loving children, Sylvie R. Peloquin and her husband, Maurice, of Springfield and Daniel R. Lacasse of Springfield; his cherished granddaughter and best friend, Chantal Peloquin; his two dear sisters, Micheline Paradis and Lizette Breault and her husband, Jacques, all of P.Q., Canada; his two dear sisters-in-law, Celine Lacasse and Marielle Lacasse, both of P.Q., Canada; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Lacasse and Bolduc families. Beside his parents, he was also predeceased by his dear brothers, Roland Lacasse and his wife, Johanne, Armand Lacasse and his wife, Yolande, Yvon Lacasse and Paul Lacasse. His funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, September 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. in Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, East Springfield, MA 01104. There are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. His family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Baystate Home Health and Hospice, 280 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01199.
