Williams J. Higgins, Jr., 75

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

William J. Higgins, Jr., age 75, of Mansfield, passed away with his loved ones by his side on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine M. (Macedo) Higgins, to whom he was wed for forty years.

Born in Boston, MA on May 3, 1943, he was a loving son of the late William J., Sr. and Mary A. (Leader) Higgins.

Bill grew up and was educated in the Roslindale section of Boston and was a graduate of Roslindale High School. He furthered his education, graduating from the Coyne Electrical School. He also served as a member of the Massachusetts National Guard.

Prior to retiring, Mr. Higgins worked as an Electrical Detailer Planner for General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT for ten years. Following retirement, he was employed by various contractors as a CAD Technician. He had made his home in Mansfield for the past forty years.

He was a member and past Grand Knight of the George C. Shields Council 420 Knights of Columbus in Mansfield. Bill loved spending time with family. He was a talented photographer and most recently took up the hobby of making pens.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted son Marc P. Higgins of Mansfield. He was the dear brother of Paul Higgins and his wife Mary of Abington. He was the adoring cousin of Barbara and Ray of Rockland. He was the devoted brother-in-law of Joseph Macedo and his wife Diane of Middletown, RI, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as grand nieces and nephews.

At the request of his family, services will be private and visiting hours have been omitted.
