Obituary

Timothy J. Cooney, age 57, of Brockton, Massachusetts passed away Sunday, September 9th, in the early hours attended by his loving wife Vivienne James-Cooney. His final hours were filled with a circle of love from his close family and friends.

Tim was born in Syracuse, New York, lived in New Orleans, Louisiana, Dayton, Ohio, Calvert County Maryland, and for the past 30 years Massachusetts. He is a graduate of Calvert High School where he maintained close friendships, going on annual camping trips with his Maryland buddies. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts and worked in the banking industry his entire career. He had many loves beyond his family and his wife Vivienne. Tim was passionate about all things New England/Boston sports, loved music from RUSH to Bob Marley, adored his dogs Diamond and Snickers, and loved his wife’s cooking.

Tim is survived by his wife Vivienne James-Cooney, of Brockton; his mother Maggie Cooney of Plymouth; his sons Devin (Lisa) Cooney and James (Erica) Bent; his sister Sheila (Paul) Albrecht; his sister Susan (Jenn) Cooney; his brother Joseph (Jenna) Cooney. Tim will also be fondly remembered by his five grandchildren, Kyler, Cameron, Riley, Max, and Sage, by a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, uncles, aunts, cousins and dear friends. Tim was predeceased by his father Joseph J. Cooney.

Services for Tim will be held at the Joseph Russo Funeral Home on Saturday the 15th of September at 814 American Legion Highway Roslindale, MA 02131 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00p.m. We welcome condolences from 11:00a.m. - 12:30p.m., followed by a short memorial from 12:30-1:00pm. We will celebrate Tim’s life at a reception at Lombardo’s, the Venetian room, 6 Billings St, Randolph, from 1:30-3:30p.m. – all are invited.

Let us remember Tim as a warrior. His fight is to be noted for the humility, courage and hope he carried with him throughout his toughest days. He would want us to graciously thank the medical staff at Brockton Hospital and Beth Israel Hospital for the kind and amazing care he received throughout his treatment.
