Bettye Jean Tucker Chapman, 89, of Tifton passed away Monday, September 10, 2018, at Baptist Village in Waycross. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 13, 2018, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Dr. Wayne Roe officiating. Mrs. Chapman will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Camden, Alabama at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 14, 2018. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 13, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Members of the Serenity Sunday school class at Tifton’s First Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Born December 2, 1928 in Colquitt County, Mrs. Chapman was the daughter of the late George T. Tucker and Emma Potts Tucker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lonnie Chapman; one daughter, Emma Sue Chapman; six brothers; and three sisters. She was a homemaker and a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Chapman is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kimberlye Ann Chapman Jones and husband Ken of Jacksonville, Florida; one grandson, Steven Shawn Chapman; and four great-grandchildren.
