John V. Buckley, age 92 of West Bridgewater died Sunday September 9, 2018 at his home after a period of failing health. He was the loving and devoted husband of Anita (LaBarre) Buckley.
John was born in Brockton and raised in West Bridgewater a son of the late Vincent V. and Minnie (Holmes) Buckley. He was a graduate of Howard High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Army and served as an airplane mechanic from the end of WWII until the beginning of the Korean War.
John was a mechanic by trade and worked around the South Shore area. He had operated Good Times Bicycle Shop in Halifax and later Good Times Hobby Shop. He had also been a dog officer in Halifax.
He was a lover of all animals big and small. John had many dogs, cats, fish and bonded with the local wild life. John’s true enjoyment in life was sitting out in his yard with his wife feeding their animal friends.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton, Thursday September 13, 2018 from 4-6pm followed at 6pm with his funeral service. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery on Friday at 9am. In lieu of flowers, it would be greatly appreciated that donations be made to Anita to help with John’s funeral expenses.
