Mary A. Roche, age 99, formerly of Hyde Park, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at the Daggett-Crandall-Newcomb Home in Norton, with her loving family by her side.
Born in Foxboro, MA on March 10, 1919, she was a loving daughter of the late William and Mary (Murphy) Roche.
Mary grew up in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Boston and was educated in Boston Schools. Prior to retiring she worked at the former F.W. Woolworth, a longtime career she began in Hyde Park and retired from the company’s Boston office with the position of financial manager.
During WWII, she helped in the war effort as a forklift operator on the Piers of Boston, a memory she cherished in her heart forever. She was also a former member and past president of the Boston VFW.
Above all, Mary treasured the times spent with her precious family. She also enjoyed spending time in Buzzards Bay on Cape Cod, times spent at Florida Casinos, having a sweet tooth for scratch tickets purchased from the Hyde Park Pharmacy on River Street and the simple pleasure of watching her favorite soap opera, Days of Our Lives.
She is survived by her beloved and devoted daughter MaryElizabeth (Balfour) Ferzoco of Pocono Lake, Pennsylvania. She was the cherished grandmother of Christine Zive and her husband Brian of Mansfield, William Ferzoco and his wife Joanne of Virginia, Joseph Ferzoco and his wife Beth Ann of Pennsylvania, Christopher Ferzoco and his wife Jessica of New Jersey, and the great grandmother of Caitlin, Ryan, Gabriella, Solomon, Dilana and Roque. She was the dear sister of the late Charles Roche, William Roche, Walter Roche, Nellie Roche and Margaret Goodrich, and is also survived by several generations of nieces and nephews.
Her funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Friday, September 14th at 10:00 A.M. in St Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Hyde Park.
