LONDONDERRY, NH - Daren MacLaren, age 56, a member of a well known Tewksbury based family, died peacefully on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 8, in the loving care of his family and hospice at his Londonderry home, after courageously battling Cancer for the past four years. He faced his battle with the unwavering support and limitless love of his beloved daughter Kayla, and best friend and wife, Ellen (Herlihy) MacLaren, with whom he was to celebrate a fourteenth wedding anniversary on October 5.
Daren was born in Derry, NH, on April 22, 1962, one of five children of the late Donald F. and Beatrice (Mercer) MacLaren, and lived in Tewksbury until moving to Londonderry in 1999. He was educated in the Tewksbury school system and proudly served in the U.S. Army, stateside. After his Honorable Discharge, he joined his family’s business, Tewksbury Welding. Daren loved his job as a welder and enjoyed the camaraderie of working with his brother and co-workers. He loved camping with Ellen and Kayla, snowmobiling, long rides on his Harley-Davidson with Ellen at his back, golfing with “buddies,” and bowling and hanging with his brothers and friends at Wamesit Lanes in Tewksbury. Daren loved all Boston’s professional sports teams, and would make the trip to Boston to celebrate every winning season Championship Duck Boat parade, regardless of the sport. Besides his best friend and wife Ellen, and his BFF and daughter, Kayla; he leaves his beloved mother-in-law, Barbara (Doyle) Herlihy-Chevalier of Hudson, NH, with whom he shared a special bond and love of Lobster Rolls; his brothers, Donald and Linda MacLaren of Tewksbury, Douglas and Gisele MacLaren of Dracut; his sister, Bonnie and her husband Michael Capuano of Tewksbury; close friends, Scotty Cheney and Marc Champagne both of Lowell; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Michael and Betty Herlihy of Milford, NH, Ann-Marie and Alan Choiniere of Stratham, NH, Sharon and Ron D’Urso of Manchester, NH, Stephen Herlihy of Lowell, Kathy and John Sullivan of Hudson, NH, Jimmy and Patty Herlihy of Lowell; numerous nieces and nephews; and was predeceased by his brother Dennis MacLaren.
Visiting hours Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950.
