Joseph P. Azevedo, 60, of New Bedford passed away at home in the arms of the Lord on Saturday September 8, 2018 after a long illness.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Rafael and Mary (DaLomba) Azevedo, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
He was a member of New Life South Coast.
Joseph was formerly employed as an automobile salesman until his retirement.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
Joe loved going to the beach, spending time on Martha's Vineyard, and spending time with his family. He was always seen with a smile on his face and lived life his way. He was active in the community doing volunteer work with veterans and the homeless.
Survivors include two sons, Kellen J. Azevedo and his wife Christine, and Julian P. Azevedo and his companion Amanda Taylor; his longtime companion, Sharon Costa; his former wife, Delores Azevedo; his siblings, Elizabeth Flowers, Manuel Azevedo, Sarah Gonsalves, Sandra Doyle, and Carol Monteiro; two grandchildren, Aria and Hudson; his devoted friend, Connie Aubin Correia; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his beloved best friend his dog Guapo, who never left Joe's side during his final days.
His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday September 12, 2018 at 10 AM at the International Church of the Nazarene, 278 Pleasant St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
