LIMINGTON- Delia "Dee" Carlene (Lingley) Carter, age 74 passed away on September 7th, 2018, at her home with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with kidney failure. She was born in Machias, Maine on October 11, 1943, a daughter of the late Ronald and Ella (Seeley) Lingley. She attended Dennysville schools and graduated from Dennysville High School. She married Wilber Douglas Carter on May 15, 1965. For many years she was a homemaker, and had a daycare in her home. She worked at Vulcan Electrics, Clarostat, McCrory's department store and Letterworks. She retired to help take care of her grandchildren. She loved doing knitting, crafts, scrapbooking and reading. Spending time with her family, and taking her grandchildren on vacations were her favorite things to do. She was a girl scout leader for many years and belonged to a woman's craft club. She is predeceased by her husband Wilber "Snapper" Douglas Carter who passed away in 2009, her parents Ronald and Ella (Seeley) Lingley and 2 brothers. She is survived by her children Cathy Carter of Standish, Maine, Debbie Carter of Standish, Maine, and Curt Carter of Kokadjo, Maine. Her grandchildren Bruce "Cory" Andrews of Portland, Maine, Lorynn Carter of Bonaire, Georgia, Lindsey (Carter) Cawood and her husband Nicholas of Standish, Maine and Cameron Carter of Standish, Maine, two brothers, one sister, many nieces and nephews, and many who called her mom or grammie.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday September 15th, 2018 at 1pm with a funeral to follow at 2 pm at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple Street (Route 25) in Cornish, Maine.
