Clement “Clem” Donovan age 68 of Brockton, formerly of Dorchester, died Wednesday September 5, 2018 at Brigham and Women's Hospital after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Janie (Houston) Donovan.
Clement was born and raised in St. Thomas, USVI a son of the late Albina Donovan. Clement attended Job Corp then after worked for Chase Bank in St. Thomas. On September 29, 1969 Clement moved to Boston. He had been a resident of Brockton for over thirty years having previously lived in Dorchester.
For many years Clem was a bus driver for special needs students in the Boston Public School System and retired in 2017. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Boston School Bus Drivers Union Local 851.
A longtime active member of Lincoln Church in Brockton, Clem was a trustee of the church and a member of the Tape ministry. He loved to sing and was a member of the choir.
Clem loved to cook and was always joking. He will be remembered as a feisty man with a soft heart. He was especially proud of his children and grandchildren.
Clem was the father of Yolanda Houston of Brockton, Clement Donovan, Jr. of Springfield, Sabrea Donovan of Rockland and the late Jamone Houston. He was the brother of Arthur Howell of Boston, Eleanor Scatliffe, Gregory Howell and Audrey Howell all of Georgia and Elroy Scatliffe of St. Thomas, USVI. He also leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held in the Lincoln Church, 180 Oak Street Brockton, Thursday, September 13, from 10-11am followed by a Funeral Service at 11am. Burial will be in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
