George E. Raper, 95, of Anderson, died Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Bethany Pointe following an extended illness.
He was born on September 1, 1923 in Anderson, the son of Ora and Nelle (Morris) Raper. He was a 1942 graduate of Anderson High School and served in the Army Air Corp during WW II in India.
George was the owner and operator of Dairy Frost Ice Cream Store in Chesterfield retiring in 1983. He had also worked at Delco Remy and Lynch Corporation. He was a charter member of Mounds Baptist Church and his family was instrumental in the founding of the church.
He is survived by a special nephew, Jeff Hardin, many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, including Rusti Spiker, Aaron, Casey, and Sarah Hardin, Pam McKinney,and Margie Raper Wilson and 2 sisters-in-law, Evelyn and Eleanor Raper.
George was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, James Robert Raper, Phyllis L. Bannon, Jack L. Raper and Richard L. Raper, a niece Diana Hardin and a nephew, Michael Raper.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 3 PM at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday.
