New Bedford – Gil S. Souto, Jr., 93, of New Bedford passed away September 7, 2018 at Alden Court Nursing Care & Rehabilitation Center. He was husband of the late Lillian (Correia) Souto.
Mr. Souto was born in New Bedford, son of the late Gil S., Sr. and Anna F. (Costa) Souto, and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church and a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was employed as an Executive Vice President by the J.J. Nissen Baking Co. until his retirement. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 6643, Freetown and a Past President of Local #184 BCT.
Survivors include his daughter: Kathleen L. Tripp; his sons: Michael G. Souto, David Souto and Christopher A. Souto; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Kirby Funeral Home, 61 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford on Monday, September 10, 2018, 5:00-8:00 P.M. Funeral will be from the funeral home on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 8:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford.
