John F. Merrill, 76, of Billerica passed away on Friday, September 7th at Lahey Hospital in Burlington. The son of the late George “Frank” and Catherine (Darby) Merrill he was bon in Methuen on September 5th 1942. Mr. Merrill joined the Air Force where he served honorably as a heavy equipment operator. After his service Mr. Merrill ran heavy equipment for the Anderson Window Company. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, playing golf and pool, as well as spending time at the Moose Lodge in N. Reading and the DAV in Tewksbury. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family ad friends. Mr. Merrill is pre-deceased by his sister-in-law Sharon Merrill and brother-in-law Louis Smith. He is survived by one daughter; Kate Sweet of Andover, two brothers; Daniel Merrill and his wife Sharon of Lawrence, and Robert Merrill of Tewskbury, two sisters; Kathleen Reardon of Andover, and Nancy Smith of Sarasota, FL. There are four grandchildren; Charlotte Sweet, Jesse Lockwood, Erin Lockwood, and Chelsea Lockwood. one great-grandson Samuel Lockwood and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, September 11th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home 390 Main Street, Andover. A funeral service will be held at the Burke Magliozzi Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 12th at 11:00 am burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
