Jackie Cone, 82, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, September 6, 2018, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Sunday, September 9, 2018, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Terry Cole officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Cone was born January 28, 1936, in Abbeville, Georgia to the late Seaborn Jackson & Sadie Freeman Cone. He graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1955. Mr. Cone owned and operated Cone’s Paint & Body Shop for several years. He enjoyed restoring cars, working on his computer, yard work and hunting in his younger years. Mr. Cone was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
He is survived by a son, Jonathan Cone of Douglas; two step-daughters: Angela & Robert Leyse of Fitzgerald and Linda & Victor Hulett of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Beau Leyse of Leesburg, Victoria Daniels & Chris of Fitzgerald; Lesley-Anne Paulk & Drew of Ocilla and Alexis Leyse of Fitzgerald; great-grandchild, Lyndon Daniels and a brother, John & Janine Cone of Fountain Green, Utah. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Gail Reaves Cone; the mother of his children, Sara Lyon Owens; two daughters, Ramona Faye Cone and Francine Cone; and an infant brother, Ronald Lamar Cone.
