Elizabeth C. "Libby" (Conceicao) Amaral, 99, of New Bedford died September 6, 2018 peacefully at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth.
She was the widow of Edward "Breezy-Marla" Amaral.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Miquel and Mary (Lopes) Conceicao, she was raised by her late aunt and uncle, Frances and Antone Fortes. She was raised on Martha's Vineyard returning to New Bedford in 1960.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mrs. Amaral was formerly employed as a stewardess for the Woods Hole, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket Steamship Authority.
She was a member of the Cape Verdean Women's Club, the Cape Verdean Women Retiree Group of New Bedford, and the Merchant Mariners Club.
Survivors include her step-daughter, Donna Amaral of Westport; her step-son, Robin Amaral of Fall River; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Pearl Frances Johnson.
Her private arrangements are with the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
