Mr. Edward J. “Butch” Vashaw, 54, of Dummer, NH passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday evening Nov. 28, 2005 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin. Butch was born in Berlin, NH on June 29, 1951 the son of Clayson (Pat) Vashaw and Idel (Crotto) Vashaw and attended school in Berlin. He was a lifelong resident of Berlin, Milan and Dummer. Butch worked for George Boucher’s saw mill, did auto body work in Laconia and Milan, worked for many years as a butcher for David Boucher. He was multi talented and was good at many jobs. He enjoyed the Red Sox, the Patriots, the Bruins, wrestling and boxing. His favorite pastimes were fishing, playing cribbage, deep sea fishing and talking on the phone. He enjoyed time spent with friends. His love was the time spent with his family around. Even knowing his time was limited, he was able to visit with his brother and wife in Florida and see the Boston Red Sox there. He didn’t give up and he lived his last days as full as he could. He never ever said “why me”. He was glad for all his blessings and he never complained. He was a small man with a very big heart, always ready to give and share all that he had. Always worried about others, his door was always open for a visit or overnight stays. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Members of the family include 2 daughters Heather Vashaw of Berlin and Amy Labrecque of Berlin; a grandson; 4 sisters Gloria Tibbetts and Pearl Lessard both of Milan, Evette Morel of Gilford and Sally Laberge of Dummer; 2 brothers James Vashaw of Venice, FL and Leslie Vashaw of Berlin; nieces, nephews and cousins.
