Barbara Louise (Tribou) Downing, 91, of Franklin, formerly of Holbrook, passed away on Friday, August 31st following a long illness.
Beloved wife of the late John (Jack) Downing. Loving mother of Neil Downing and his wife Milkie, Joan Downing Toye and her husband Wayne, and the late Bob Downing. Devoted grandmother of Daniel Toye, Steven Toye, Michael Downing, Christopher Downing and the late David Toye.
Born in Medford, MA, she was the loving daughter of the late Katherine Burgess and dear sister of the late Betty Reynolds and the late Lois Saraiva. After marrying Jack in 1949, Barbara lived in Germany, Texas and Somerville, MA. The couple moved to Holbrook in 1955, where they raised their family. She moved to Franklin in 2012.
Calling hours will be held at Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com)131 Main Street Franklin on Friday, September 7th, from 10AM-12PM. A memorial service will follow at 12 PM. Internment at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org or to PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
