William C. Sheedy
Retired Tewksbury Post Office Truck Driver
DENNISPORT: William C. Sheedy, age 87, a resident of Dennisport for 23 years, formerly of Tewksbury, passed away at home under the care of his family and hospice on Tuesday, August 28, 2018.
He was the beloved husband of Geraldine (Stella) Sheedy.
Born in Boston on August 26, 1931, he was the son of the late John T. Sheedy and the late Mary G. (O’Connor) Sheedy.
William was raised in Charlestown and attended Charlestown schools.
In 1948, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the 813th Engineers.
Following his honorable discharge from active duty, he settled in Tewksbury where he resided until moving to Dennisport in 1995.
Mr. Sheedy was employed by the U.S. Postal Service at its facilities in Boston, Lowell and Tewksbury until his retirement.
While living in Tewksbury, he was a member and past commander of the Tewksbury V.F.W. Post 8164, a member of the Tewksbury American Legion Post # 110, and a member of the Tewksbury Elks Lodge # 2070.
In addition, he served the Town of Tewskbury as Veterans Officer for several years.
William enjoyed fishing and playing golf.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two children, Thomas S. Sheedy of Dracut, and Beth M. Fernandes and her husband Donald of Hudson, NH; his daughter-in-law, Karen Sheedy of Williston, VT; five grandchildren, Philip, Patrick, Carolyn, Christopher, and Cathryn. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Family and friends will be received from 10 – 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St. Tewksbury, followed by his graveside service to be held at the Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38015.
