Joseph F. Mahoney, Jr., age 68, of Norton passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, in the comfort of his home on Saturday, September 1, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Carol A. (McKeown) Mahoney, to whom he was wed on September 16, 1972.
Born in Boston, MA on October 21, 1949, he was a loving son of the late Joseph F., Sr and Catherine T. (Cummings) Mahoney.
Joseph grew up in Brookline and was a 1967 graduate of Brookline High School. While in high school he was a standout athlete who served as starting quarterback, Captain of the baseball team and as a guard on the basketball team.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Mahoney worked for over thirty years at Federal Express and retired from the company’s Raynham office.
A resident of Norton for the past thirty-nine years, Joseph was an avid New England sports fan, enjoyed playing golf and fishing, but more than anything else loved spending time with his adoring family; especially at the family beach home in Wareham.
In addition to his loving wife Carol, he is survived by his dear and devoted children Shannon E. Mahoney of Boston, and Joseph F. Mahoney, III and his wife Jennifer of Plainville and his treasured granddaughter Madison Grace Mahoney.
Services and burial will be private and visiting hours have been omitted.
