Worcester – Mario Nicholas Lombardozzi, 86, of Worcester, died peacefully on Thursday, August 30th, 2018 with his beloved daughter Julie by his side.
Born in Worcester on July14, 1932, Mario was son of Italian immigrants, Francisco and Francesca Lombardozzi and is also predeceased by his son Joshua and his brothers, Joseph and Jimmy.
Mario proudly served his country in the United States Army and returned home for a long career with the City of Worcester Fire Department, retiring with honors. While with the City of Worcester Fire Department Mario served on Engine Co. 15, Engine Co. 8, Engine Co. 3, Engine Co.4 and retired while on Engine Co. 5. He enjoyed working in his family vegetable garden, making his own wine, and family vacations at Misquamicut Beach.
Mario was proud of his seven children, Nicholas (Lisa), Frank (Lisa), Angela (Stephen), Luke (Kris), Rose, Andrew (Sheila) and Julie (Terrence).
He was especially proud and loving of all his grandchildren. Ryan, Alec, Tony, Sofia, Nico, Meaghan, Dominic, Nikolai, Ronan, Fionna, Norah and Jacob.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, September 6th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Joseph’s Church – Holy Family Parish 35 Hamilton Street. Burial will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 5th from 5 to 7 PM in the funeral home.
