Joseph Edward Scarberry, 84, of Tifton passed away Friday, August 31, 2018, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, September 3, 2018, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Conway Harris officiating. Mr. Scarberry will be laid to rest at a later date. The family will receive friends Monday, September 3, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born July 25, 1934 in Corinth, Mississippi, Mr. Scarberry was the son of the late James Newton Scarberry and Pauline Smith Scarberry. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Loyd Jr. Scarberry; and three sisters, Betty Davis, Linda Gail Fowler and Kathrine Scarberry. Before retiring, he was the owner and operator of Scarberry Logging Company and was a member of Believers Baptist Church in Tifton. He loved his grandkids and loved to hunt and fish. He had lived in Tifton for the past 47 years.
Mr. Scarberry is survived by his wife, Betty Jean McCrackin Scarberry of Tifton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy Joe and Jody Scarberry of Tifton and James Edward and Pam Scarberry of Omega; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sandra Kay and Mike Griffin and Barbara Jean and Joe Mowbray, all of Enigma and Debbie Webb of Thomasville; two brothers, Kenneth Scarberry of Brookfield and Jimmy Scarberry of Tifton; twelve grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
